Viddiverse, a safe, video site for kids 8 to 13, premiered this week, bringing together hundreds of professionally-created, kid-friendly videos plus elements of familiar social media destinations where kids can upload their own user generated videos and enhance them with a cool set of tools including filters, picture frames, funny backgrounds and more. Viddiverse also offers kids the opportunity to build profiles and share content. Started by entrepreneur Malcolm Bird, a former Nickelodeon executive who founded and built AOL Kids & Teens into the #1 kids network in the nation, Viddiverse is the culmination of his 28 years of work as a childrens’ programmer and start up executive.

Viddieverse Creator; Malcolm Bird!

Says Bird, “Viddiverse is what a kids online environment should be – a COPPA compliant, walled environment with lots of kid-friendly content, the ability for tweens to upload their own videos and customize them, and for parents not to be concerned about what their kids are seeing online. If cable hadn’t been invented, this is what kids’ entertainment would be.”  The site meets all the standards of COPPA, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. It requires parental approval; it doesn’t collect any personal information from children, and it will not link to non-Coppa sites. Bird envisions a world where kids can create their own videos and upload them in a non-threatening environment and brands can advertise there without concerns about brand-safety and the possibility of “inappropriate adjacencies.”
