Multitasking with the movie Don Jon actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt directs, writes and stars in this wacky film. It’s a narrative that takes on a serious subject turning it into an outrageous comedy. The off the wall story of opposites attract in a world of social change that’s devoid of inhibitions and morality offers a tome that’s upbeat and cynical. And, for Gordon-Levitt the subject matter works in his fast paced comedy because his stars deliver the offbeat personalities for the hilarious script.

The iconic “Flashdance” film, which has galvanized generations worldwide with its synergy of stylistic filmmaking, memorable characters, and fantastic fusion of dance and music — celebrated its’ 30th Anniversary at a sold-out screening event at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles, California on September 21st — reuniting the director and many cast members in what proved to be a very unique and fitting tribute. During the screening, the audience applauded, laughed, and cheered throughout — just as audiences had when the film first lept onto the screen. Afterwards — director Adrian Lyne, actress Jennifer Beals (Alex Owens), and actors Michael Nouri (Nick Hurley) and Kyle T. Heffner (Richie) — who’d not seen each other in many years — spoke to the audience about their experiences making the film, during a panel moderated by filmmaker Jim Hemphill. The weekend event that was 50 years in the making sold out in just a few hours, we’re talking about the none other than the upcoming 50th Anniversary Celebration for BBC’s “Doctor Who”. Now, due to popular demand the promoters have a limited number of Doctor Who 50th Celebration tickets available to purchase! The event takes place on 22nd, 23rd, and 24th November 2013 at ExCeL, London. If interested in a chance of securing tickets, you’ll need to submit a ballot to entered into the list of limited openings. The Doctor Who 50th Celebration ballot is now open until Monday 30th September at 10am BST. We’re told that entries after this time will not be counted. If you’re a serious Doctor Who fan and were upset that you missed out on the chance to grab passes to the 50th fan celebration, you’ve gotten a second chance, but the only way you can secure tickets is by entering into the ballot. Well it’s Friday, and not just any Friday, it’s FREE STUFF FRIDAY and today we’re offering up a brand new DVD copy of FOX Television’s “New Girl” Season 2, which comes to home video on October 1st. Ron Howard’s new movie, Rush, expands to over 2000 theaters this weekend, and I happened to catch a sneak peek last week complete with an actors, writer, and producers Q&A following the screening. I was not familiar with the story, nor had I read up on the events before seeing the film, so I was going in blind, and I’m glad I did.

Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruehl are fantastic – especially Bruehl. This will no doubt catapult him into more Hollywood roles. His performance as Niki Lauda may even find him in Oscar contention, but the season is young, and there are so many more movies in the running. He grew up in Germany knowing all about Lauda (who is Austrian), unlike the Australian Hemsworth who had no idea of the history between Lauda and his British character, James Hunt, before taking on the role.
