Hold Onto Your Butts! The Dinosaurs Are Loose Again – 20 Years Later and Now in 3D!!!

Jurassic Park in 3-D

The classic Steven Spielberg film, Jurassic Park, is coming back two decades later – bigger and better than ever…in 3D!!! A new trailer was released this week as well as a one-sheet poster. If you never had a chance to experience seeing this film in theaters, then we suggest you take the opportunity to do so next April. Still groundbreaking and visually solid today as it was back in 1993, Jurassic Park is a true classic that endures and should look even more dynamic in the third dimension!  With a reverent recap of the film, the trailer does a subtle upsell of the 3D conversion.  For those who are very familiar with what to expect in terms of content, Universal doesn’t have to try hard to convince people this is a post-conversion to 3D worth seeing.  The new one-sheet looks great and almost feels like an attraction brochure for an amazing new world that lies beyond those garagantuan gates. Doctor Who: The Musical? The AVByte! brothers have done it again…

On Weds we posted up a video by the AVByte! brothers, a musical number with Disney Princesses welcoming the latest Princess (due to the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney), Princess Leia, to the family. If you haven’t seen the AVByte brothers site, check it out, these guys produce weekly musical numbers, and somehow take to the busy streets of New York which provide a colorful backdrop for their playground of creativity. Until our own Lindalee Rose is back with more Doctor Who reviews at Christmas when the series Holiday Special airs, we thought we’d give our Beyond the Marquee Whovians a little treat with Doctor Who: The Musical by Antonius and Vijay the AvByte! brothers. Let us know what you think of this…not a bad idea, as big as the Doctor Who phenom has become, it may not be long before the BBC care calling up these guys to write the next big Broadway hit about our favorite time-lord!

SKYFALL poster

Skyfall, 007 at His Best (Film Review)

One of the best James Bond pictures ever made, Skyfall makes its way into theaters this weekend for what I believe will be a box-office blowout.  The action packed thriller starts with a bang and doesn’t disappoint in the finale.  For all you 007 addicts it’s time to check it out on the 50th anniversary of a solid film franchise.

Bond (Daniel Craig) finds himself vanquished when a bullet meant for his foe takes him out atop a train.  His mission was to retrieve a list of secret British agents before they got into the wrong hands.  With a mission failed, M (Judi Dench) finds herself under the heat of the British Government when six of the spies on the list are get targeted for death.  When M gets a formal threat on her life and they find Sylva (Javier Bardem) an ex-spy is involved, Bond shows up to track him down.

TOP 5 SPORTS MOVIES THAT NEED TO EXIST

Way to go, sport!

Kicking off Friday in Southern California is the annual All Sports Los Angeles Film Festival, a 3-day event featuring films and filmmakers celebrating the wide wide world of sports.

Given how many sports exist, a festival devoted to movies about them is a natural (not The Natural), but with such a wealth of cinematic athletics some have become — excuse the pun — overplayed.  I love baseball movies as much as anyone, but do we really need another Kevin Costner ode to the Great American Pastime?  Or another boxing or basketball flick?  It’s time to give less known sports a chance.  It’s time for a list!  Here are several real sports itching to have their time at bat.
