THREE IS A MAGIC NUMBER

P-booth-logo-magenta

You don’t need Schoolhouse Rock to know that 3 is a magic number.

It’s in our sciences with Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion and Asimov’s 3 Laws of Robotics.  It’s in our religion (some of our religion) with the 3 Wise Men and the Holy Trinity.  Three trimesters of pregnancy could yield triplets that all require first, middle, and last names on their road to birth, life, and death. The number 3 is everywhere.  Most significantly, it’s in our pop culture.

GREAT SCOTT!!! Back to the Future: The Musical is Headed to a Stage in London!

BTTF from Screen to Stage

BTTF from Screen to Stage

We just got an email from our good friend, Bob Gale, the co-creator/writer/producer of the Back to the Future trilogy, who let us in on some HEAVY News!

For years, fans have heard rumors and stories of potential plans for a 4th installment or even a reboot of the hit film series that starred Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Now, finally and officially, there has been a development! Just in time for next year’s 30th anniversary of Back to the Future’s release, a musical stage version of Back to the Future will open up in London’s West End! London-based director Jamie Lloyd and producer Colin Ingram sold a concept that clicked when it was pitched to the 1985 film’s creators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis.

A musical version of the hit movie makes perfect sense when your main character dreams of being a rock musician! We can assume that all our favorite characters from the movies will have their on-stage counterparts including Marty’s parents and his wild-eyed scientist pal, Doc Brown! Read ahead for more details on this exciting news that’s electrifying fans across the space-time continuum!

“Awkward Moment” A Silly Love Story (Film Review)

Here’s a chick flick with a lot of face time with upcoming stars.  It’s called That Awkward Moment and features Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan.  The film’s a romancer that has a lot of appeal, except the storyline is quite hackneyed and very predictable.  The saving grace here is the snappy comedy that keeps the script from becoming boring.  Not the sharpest romantic comedy in theaters, but looking for a good date flick for a night out is a challenge right now anyway.

“Labor Day” An Sudden Affair (Film Review)

Finally making its way into many theaters after a soft opening in December, Labor Day adds some drama to the weekend.  The film features some good acting, able direction and a story that intrigues, but gets hung up in reality issues. If you accept the story as played out you will enjoy it, otherwise the box of tissues you bring will be for naught.

The STAR WARS Universe gets a New…Old Droid!

Disney XD Introduces Chopper, the Newest Droid in the Star Wars Universe

Disney XD Introduces Chopper, the Newest Droid in the Star Wars Universe

In Star Wars, droids are always eager to help out their human masters, drop whatever it is they’re doing when called upon, and sometimes even sacrifice themselves to save others. Right? Not quite. Introducing Chopper, a lazy, cranky (if ultimately goodhearted) astromech droid, and the latest character revealed from the highly anticipated Star Wars Rebels animated series. “If Artoo is the family dog,” said Dave Filoni, executive producer of the show, “Chopper is the cat.” Chopper is an essential crew member of the Ghost, tasked with keeping the starship running and operable for its band of heroes. In reality, thanks to his many “unique” upgrades and customizations, no other alien, human, or droid could handle the job.

The design of Chopper, a.k.a. C1-10P, takes cues from early Ralph McQuarrie concept art for R2-D2, especially the expressive arms that fold out of his head. As Star Wars Rebels takes place four years prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Chopper’s retro look creates an aesthetic continuity with droids of the original trilogy. Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world. Click ahead for more pics of everyone’s newest Astromech droid, certain to steal your heart!
