A Happy 33rd Birthday to POPEYE the Movie!!!

Hard to believe that it was 33 years ago today that the movie ‘Popeye’ was released in theaters. A young actor named Robin Williams, hot off his role as television’s favorite martian, Mork, starred in his first motion picture, along with actress Shelly Duvall. The musical-comedyPopeye, directed by Robert Altman, was based on a classic cartoon and comic series called; Popeye the Sailor Man. On the European island of Malta, a recreation of Popeye’s town, Sweethaven, was constructed for the film. At the time, this permanent and working set was a laboring job taking over 7 months to construct for the production. When the film wrapped, the set remained…and so did the legacy of Popeye that put Malta on the Motion Picture map. Now 33 years later, it’s a popular tourist attraction that features walk around characters from the film, a restaurant, gift shop, boat tours and more! Last year Beyond the Marquee’s own Jon Donahue (a fan of not only Robin Willliams, but the movie Popeye itself), joined by his friend’s Mike, Allison and Elizabeth, set off on an international Road Trip 1/2 way across the globe to check out the fictional town of Sweethaven (aka Popeye Village) and filed this report!

SHIELD Level 7

After a week off, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with a new episode before taking a month off.  To quote my mom anytime someone hires a maid, supersizes their fries, or does anything else reminiscent of being rich, “Must be nice.”

The Bridge pulls out all the stops by bringing us back to the beginning with returning guest star J. August Richards who was featured in the pilot.  It also brings in most of the running, seemingly disparate plot threads and connects them in an explosive way.  How explosive?  Read on to find out.

“ONCE UPON A TIME” (TV Review) S3 E10

Regina desires happiness and believes she's found it in motherhood.

Regina desires happiness and believes she’s found it in motherhood.

Previously on Once Upon a Time… The Alliance was successful in saving Henry from Peter Pan. This was quite a feat as earlier on Henry had his heart ripped out of his chest in Pan’s quest for immortality. After capturing Pan’s body inside of Pandora’s Box Henry’s and Pan’s souls were switched leaving Henry in Pandora’s Box and Pan in Henry’s body. The question left standing after last week was whether or not their true identities would reveal themselves in time before anything happens in Storybrooke. Reader discretion is advised.
