Lindalee Rose Reviews THE LITTLEST PET SHOP (DVD Review)

When we received our advance copy of Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory Kids DVD of Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures, we turned it right over to our very own 4 1/2 year old reviewer Lindalee Rose to watch.  (If you don’t know who Lindalee Rose is by now, check out her internationally acclaimed Doctor Who reviews right here on BTM.)

Well to say the DVD was a hit in Lindalee’s household is an understatement. Apparently, it has become almost a daily ritual for the past few weeks to have this show playing either in the house or in the car en-route to places. What appears to be just another animated series created to promote cute girls toys actually really holds some fun writing, catchy pop songs and clever/comedic plot lines that hold their own without feeling like a blatant plug for cute wide-eyed toys. When we heard how excited Lindalee was about this DVD, we decided to have her do a quick review of it — you’ll see that it clearly is something that delights her to no end. Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures , the first DVD collection based on Hasbro’s popular LITTLEST PET SHOP brand and new animated series hits shelves TODAY.

Blythe Baxter and the Pets of the Littlest Pet Shop

What the show’s all about…

Littlest Pet Shop is an animated half-hour comedy series that follows Blythe Baxter and her father as they move into a Big City apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop store – an amazing day-camp for pets of all kinds including a doggie diva, dancing gecko, a sweet, adorable panda and others. Her real adventure begins when she discovers that she alone can miraculously understand and talk to all of the pets. Blythe joins them on fantastical adventures that include uproarious song-and-dance sequences featuring all-new original music by Daytime Emmy® Award nominee Daniel Ingram and the vocal talent of Ashleigh Ball, Tabitha St. Germain, Nicole Oliver and Peter New.

There’s a clean, simple, but unique style to this show that mesmerizes you when watching it. Maybe it’s the color-palette, perhaps the design of the wide-eyed characters … but whatever it is, add in some fun scenarios, Miley Cyrus sounding pop-songs, sprinkles of adult humor and pop-culture references that parents laugh at but go over the kids heads, and you’ve got five fun-filled episodes and captivating entertainment the whole family can enjoy!

The characters are charming and fun, from Blythe’s absent minded father Roger Baxter, who you fear for his crew and passengers knowing this guy is an airline pilot, to the eccentric and unpredictable owner of the Littlest Pet Shop; Mrs.Twombly, and then there’s Whitney and Britney, the Biskit twins who are the mean-spirited mix of pampered, goth and cheerleader youth all rolled into one. Beyond that you have the pet shop animals themselves, a dog, a hedgehog, a panda, a lizard , a mongoose and a monkey. They sing, they dance, they paint and even do magic…watch this with your kids and you’ll be hooked in no time!
