David Bradley will be the first Doctor

It seems like lately there’s been these productions that go behind the scenes of the making of classic movies…whether it’s the Hitchcock behind the scenes HBO film w/ Sienna Miller “the Girl” or last years Michelle William’s film “My Week with Marilyn” or the upcoming Tom Hanks as Walt Disney portrayl of “Saving Mr.Banks”. There seems to be a desire to learn the secrets, scandal and challenges behind some of our most beloeved films of dyas gone by. But now we may be seeing that influence creeping into television as we’ve learned today with the announcement that a 90-minute BBC made for TV movie about the first Doctor Who is gearing up for production. Now before you get excited that you’ll see the making of the current series with Doctor Matt Smith running around fighting Daleks and Cybermen on a larger adventure packed adventure…sit tight…because in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who this year, actor David Bradley will be slipping into the TARDIS as the original Doctor, William Hartnell. In the upcoming made for TV show An Adventure in Space and Time,  David Bradley, who Harry Potter fans will know as the Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch will be playing the first Doctor in this film which will explore the origins of the classic character. Actor Brian Cox who fans of the Bourne and Wolverine movies will recognize, takes on the role of Sydney Newman the head of BBC drama who has long been credited as the show’s creator. A co-creation of BBC America and BBC Cymru Wales, the script is being written by current Mark Gatiss, whose credits include Doctor Who and Sherlock, another series on the BBC. Exec Producers of the Doctor Who series Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner are on board as well when production starts shooting early next month.  An Adventure in Space and Time is set to air later this year.
