The Star Trek Into Darkness Motion Poster Leaves A Lot To Be Desired…

Star Trek Into Darkness the 1-Sheet Poster

Once in awhile you get a good motion poster in the digital trend that seems to slowly be creeping into theaters or those map kiosk displays in malls. Sometimes they are clever, starting off as what appears to be a static one-sheet then suddenly coming alive with a few seconds of animation or live action which cycles back to the start and resets. Will this fad ever replace the traditional paper movie poster? Doubtful.  But, it will be interesting to see where poster print marketing goes in the next decade, especially seeing newspaper and magazines closing up shop and only having an on-line presence.

That all being said…I can only imagine that 10’s of thousands of dollars were invested to create the Star Trek Into Darkness motion poster. The static poster left a lot to be desired, so they really haven’t upped the ante with putting motion into it. Was Paramount hoping to take a mediocre poster and reinvent it as cool by making it move? It appears that’s the case. Unfortunately, falling debris and fire with a coarse voiceover doesn’t impress this fan. With all the “motion” why is Cumberbatch’s coat so stiff the whole time!?!? Take a look at the new Star Trek: Into Darkness motion poster after the jump and let us know what you think.
