Great Scott! Home Movies from Back to the Future 3

Special thanks to loyal Beyond the Marquee reader, Jay from Los Angeles, who sent over a link to some recently uploaded video footage … from the Future! Last week, home video footage from a neighbor who lived next door to the house used as the McFly home in the Back to the Future Trilogy was posted up on YouTube. The impressive VHS quality video appears to have been shot during Back to the Future Part III‘s production in which Marty returns back home to 1985 from 1885, en route to pick up his girlfriend, Jennifer, in his Toyota SR5 4×4. Rehearsals, outtakes, lunch breaks, personal interactions of the cast, crew and filmmakers make this a MUST SEE for any fan of Back to the Future!

Click ahead to read more details about the footage’s history and Click Play above to enjoy nearly 20 minutes of never before seen behind-the-scenes candid footage from one of the most iconic film trilogies of all time!

From the YouTube page of Robert Mosely (who from his other cool videos appears to be a huge Back to the Future and Ghostbusters fan!):

December 18th, 1989

Universal Studios returns to the previous location in Arleta California used as Marty McFly’s house for the 3rd and final sequel of the trilogy. The Delorean Time Machine has already been destroyed by the train and Marty runs back to his house to find old Biff polishing his Dad’s BMW and his new Toyota in the garage….. imagine this is all playing out in front of you as you view it from the next door neighbor’s house, through the kitchen window on your new VHS camcorder! This amazing behind the scenes footage has been kept on the shelf of that neighbors house ever since that day, only to be given to me (Videobob of Bob’s Prop Shop) on my recent visit to the house in March of 2013 to be shared with you the fans!!!
(I edited out the personal portions of the video with family members.)

What did you think? Pretty cool to see Michael J Fox and the rest of the cast interacting with the crew, neighboring kids, and doing various takes on the scenes. Lets hope more videos like this surface – we’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for sharing this video. In 1963, my family lived in the house this was shot from. When I first saw Back To The Future in the theater, it took my breath away because it looked like my old neighborhood. The massive power lines I forgot about it for twenty years until I was google earthing some of the homes we lived in growing up. That house was flagged and a chill went up my back once I realized we indeed lived next door to the McFly house.
