Today, The Walt Disney Studios announced Big Hero 6, an all-new action comedy adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film, directed by animation veteran Don Hall (Winnie The Pooh) and produced by Kristina Reed (Paperman), will open in U.S. theaters in 3D on November 7, 2014. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, the CG-animated Big Hero 6 centers on a brilliant robotics prodigy, Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city. With recent company layoffs in the Animation divisions of Disney, there have been fears we may not see anything from that group for some time to come, but today’s announcement of Big Hero 6 has seemed to squash those rumors thankfully, for now.
