Beyond the Marquee: The Web-Series (Episode 3): Everything Old is CLUE Again!

The cast of the new mini-series television event “CLUE”

When thinking about the games that used to occupy my closet as a kid, some classics come to mind; Candyland, Stratego, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Connect Four, Monopoly and most notable CLUE. Many a family game night, way before they went main-stream were filled with my family making accusations of which characters committed the murder, where and with what weapons. The game over the decades has been brought to life in a myriad of incarnations from books, theatrical stage shows to motion pictures. The latest now comes in the form of a five-part, live-action, miniseries event that launches Monday night (November 14th) on the HUB television network.

Whodunnit, Where and with What? These kids are about to find out!

This marks the first time the classic family game will appear on television in a version that re-imagines the brand for young audiences. The mini-series introduces the iconic game characters as young modern-day sleuths who stumble upon an adventure they never imagined after witnessing a crime.  Along the way, the six very different kids discover they have a lot more in common than they thought as they uncover hidden treasures and decipher cryptic knowledge to reveal a secret society. The mystery they unravel, and the accusations they make, could very well define their own futures.

Beyond the Marquee had the chance to sit down with Sterling Beaumon who portrays “Seamus” (aka Mr.Green) in the series and chat about his role and the direction of this exciting new show.

After the interview the BTM crew were invited to screen the premiere episode with Sterling in his home and I must say, we were all thrilled with it. The show has a vibe that makes it fun and family friendly. The cinematography and direction is as professional looking as any of that of a network TV crime show and the acting is actually quite impressive for the scenarios and pace the actors find themselves thrown into. Before we knew it, the pilot episode was done and we were all thirsty for more! I suddenly was having flashbacks of my self-emmersed nights of watching “LOST” and being thrown for a loop with a crazy cliffhanger. This is a must-see, so set your DVRs!!!
