We found out last episode that Walt wasn’t going to stay hidden in the New Hampshire cabin forever.  Distraught over his son and on the brink of turning himself in, he saw the “Grey Matter” couple Gretchen and Elliot on a talk show dismissing his contribution to the company, fuelling his revenge.  In all the chaos, we forget how smart Walt is, then we are reminded in a genius way.  With his remaining 7+ million, he makes his way into the couple’s mansion, and forces them to set up a trust fund for Flynn and Holly under the threat of hit men.  Those hit men happen to be Badger and skinny Pete with a couple later pointers in the bushes – genius. So Walt ultimately will get the money to his kids – without them knowing it was from him – Walt WINS.

When Walt discovers that the blue stuff is still in circulation, he realizes that Jessie must still alive.  Assuming he has partnered up with Todd and Lydia, he sets out for another genius plan.  We find out the reason Walt risked retrieval the ricen was to slip it into Lydia’s coffee.   This was a welcome and fitting surprise, but was it for pride, or just plain revenge?  Either way, another WIN for Walt.

The most touching scene was Walt’s final goodbye to Skylar and Holly.  Gently touching the sleeping baby’s face brought tears to my eyes as they rolled down Walt’s.  Somehow beyond all his evil deeds, you still feel like he is actually a kind and gentle human being.  He watches Flynn from a distance, knowing it will be the last time he sees him.  With the Trust Fund in place, he somehow finds peace with it, assured he will be taken care of after he is gone.   Before he leaves her, he reveals the final resting place of Hank and Gomez giving her all the details so she has something to give the DEA.  She should be completely off the hook now!  Another WIN for Walt.

Now he is on the warpath to shut down Todd and Jessie’s operations.  To his surprise, Jessie is being held in shackles and forced to cook.  Realizing that he is responsible for Jessie’s situation, he decides to save his life.  Jumping on him when he sets off his rain of bullet machine guns from the trunk of the car, getting shot instead of Jessie.  Walt shoots uncle Jack and Jessie kills Todd, leaving only the two of them surviving.  Jessie finally has the perfect opportunity to kill Walt, but decides he’s not going to give him the easy way out.  Score one for Jessie speeding away in a car – finally free.

Walt slowly walks through the meth lab, reminiscing the day that Hank invited him to the ride-along, the day he decided to go into the meth biz. He is bleeding to death, and he drops to floor, dead. As the camera pans up from the ceiling we see the DEA storming the lab.  He’s dead, he wasn’t captured, he died in the place it all started by his own doing, ironically by his own bullet.   Another sad WIN for Walt, he got everything he wanted and in the saddest way possible we are somehow happy he did.

It’s over, but we can all enjoy talking about the series, watching it again – noticing all the symbolic images we missed the first time.  Now we wait for the DVD release in November.  Gilligan promises lots of deleted scenes, a new back story created called Chicks-n-guns and also a 2 hour documentary about the making of the last 8 episodes.  That is worth the wait, I mean we waited this long for the finale, what’s another couple months?  Goodbye to all things Breaking Bad – Kiwi Lady says good on ya and stay good, no need to be bad – see what happens!!!

  1. Walter White has a reason and good intention for every action he executes over the course
of the show, even as his actions become increasingly morally questionable.
The Winchester brothers have created quite a stir ever since they started hunting supernatural
monsters. I’m not going to say anything about lead actor Bryan
    Cranston.
