ALIEN Super 7 Display at Comic-Con 2013

The highly anticipated recreations of five 3 3/4″ action figure prototypes from the 1979 classic horror/sci-fi film ALIEN are finally arriving in collectors hands — and an eagerly awaited bonus figure has now been revealed!

Collectors who purchased an ALIEN Early Bird Certificate Package (modeled after the ’77 Kenner STAR WARS like offering) from Super 7 at the 2013 Comic-Con are now starting to receive their figures, and as a bonus for pre-ordering — they’re receiving two exclusive collector perks: 1) The 3 3/4″ action figures of Ripley, Ash, Dallas, Kane, and the Alien — on classic Kenner ALIEN ’79 blue style cardbacks, while those that ordered after the fact, or now order, will receive them on black cardbacks, and 2) An exclusive bonus figure — which has now been revealed: a translucent Alien variant action figure — inspired by an early Alien concept, translucent suit that was considered for the ’79 film, but was ultimately abandoned due to issues with the suit’s lack of durability.

This has been quite the long trek to see these figures realized, as they were initially planned for release 34 years ago, but were cancelled after the controversy caused by some parental groups at the time over an 18″ version of the Alien figure — they thought the creature was horrific, and lambasted Kenner for making a “toy” from an R rated film.
