After the Evil Queen’s curse was destroyed, and all was reset, our enchanted folk return to the Enchanted Forrest.

Previously on “Once Upon a Time”… Peter Pan’s curse to reset the characters of Storybrooke was fully realized as Henry and Emma were sent to New York without an iota of them being aware of what had happened since the curse had come to pass by the Evil Queen Regina. The rest of the principal characters, including, but not limited to: Snow White, Prince Charming, and the Evil Queen Regina, were sent back to the Enchanted Forrest with their memories completely realized. Unbeknowest to them, there was a great evil, one might say even a wicked evil, lurking there waiting to exact revenge on the Evil Queen. Read ahead for our full recap and review of this week’s episode!

The midseason premiere offers us vital insight into the relationship between Aurora and Phillip as it’s revealed that Aurora is pregnant. This is interesting as everything has truly come full circle, with Aurora originally being the one cursed by Maleficent, and now she has come to the point where she can be a mother. After having peace at their gazebo, there is a huge rush of smoke that comes from the distance that passes through them. To the surprise of Aurora and Phillip, everyone that was transported from Storybrooke arrives in a flash.

ONCE UPON A TIME - "New York City Serenade" - After Rumplestiltskin sacrificed his life to stop Pan from enacting another curse, Regina obliterated her original curse, which erased Storybrooke from existence and whisked its residents back to Fairy Tale Land - leaving Emma and Henry back in our world with no memories of Storybrooke. But all is not well back in the Enchanted Forest when Hook comes calling on Emma in New York City in an attempt to jog her memory so that she can once again help her fairy tale family and friends out of a desperate situation, on the midseason return of "Once Upon a Time,"

ONCE UPON A TIME – “New York City Serenade”

Meanwhile, back in New York City, there was a two pronged storyline taking place for Emma. Primarily, that a “man” by the name of Walsh was on the cusp of tying the knot with Emma. Fortunately for Emma, good judgement prevailed as Walsh was revealed to be someone altogether different. Had it not been for the surprising appearance of Captain Hook, she might not have realized who she was. Although it took her a while, to make the leap of faith that Hook could be right, Emma was able to drink the memory potion he had conjured up, and with it bring back all of Emma’s memory from the day that she first stepped foot into Storybrooke.

The unpredictable did take place though between Walsh and Emma. As after Emma broke Walsh’s heart, he revealed his true villainous ways, as he transformed himself into a hideous flying monkey. Oh yes Flying Monkey! It viciously attacked Emma. Fortunately, Emma was able to defend herself, and sent him into a portal. Although, she believed that she had eliminated him, in fact, the Flying Monkey made his way back home, to you guessed it, his master, the Wicked Witch of the West. What she revealed to us though is what will shape the future of this season, and even the show going forward.

Having made so many enemies, the Evil Queen may have met her match with the wickedest one of all, the Wicked Witch of the West.

The second primary plot line took place after Snow White and company met Aurora and Phillips. Along the way, Hook told Prince Charming that his goal wasn’t to get to the Evil Queen’s Castle, but to find his Jolly Roger, which he believes is somewhere in this realm. Along the way a few other people’s emotional states come to the fore. The first was the Evil Queen who was heartbroken that she was never going to be able to see Henry again. As a result, she saw it best to bury her heart away to deal with the loneliness of not having him in her life. Snow White was able to convince her that the Queen would be able to find happiness again, and that she should keep her heart.

When the Queen and Snow were leaving the area of the forest they were, they were attacked by, you guessed it, a Flying Monkey. Although it initially seemed like the two ladies were going to be history, Robin Hood came to the defense of the two of them, and speared the Flying Monkey with an arrow. After the ordeal they discussed who could have possibly sent it to attack them, or what their motives were, but no one could conclude anything. However, after the fairytale characters arrived at the castle, they were shocked to find that there was a protection spell, placed on the castle so they couldn’t enter. By whom or why? Therein lies the true question.

After not being able to conceive after Emma, Snow and Charming's yearning for the chance to get it right has come to pass.

After not being able to conceive after Emma, Snow and Charming’s yearning for the chance to get it right has come to pass.

These two worlds collided in Storybrooke when Emma, Henry, and Hook arrived to their former hometown. Emma went to see if her parents were back at their home, and to her delight they were. Although they hadn’t known anything that had happened in the past year, or how they got back to Storybrooke. It’s to Snow White and Prince Charming’s satisfaction and Emma’s surprise that Snow is now pregnant with Emma’s sibling. With all of the mystery that surrounds the town now, the force of opposition is revealed to be the Wicked Witch of the West who will stop at nothing to see her revenge through to fruition upon the Evil Queen.

With so much uncertainty revolving around the relationship between the Evil Queen and the Wicked Witch of the West, how will their paths cross, and more importantly how will they be revealed. Will Storybrooke be able to withstand the blitz attack by the Wicked Witch and her Flying Monkeys, or will the Wicked Witch get one step closer to enacting her revenge? Personally, there were a few moments in this weeks episode that were outstanding. For one, Emma going to grab her patented red leather jacked before she left for Storybrooke. Watching Emma experience the flash back with the Memory Potion, and seeing the past few years cross before her eye. And watching the dynamics between Emma and Henry play out as they lived in the “normal” world.

Tune in next week as more will be revealed in regards to the Wicked Witches scheme, as another chapter unfolds right before our very eyes, and let us know what you thought of this week’s episode in the comments below!
