After 3 connecting flights and about 4 hours of sleep over the course of 12 hours, one would expect a person to be pretty wiped out, but not in the case of 6 year old Lindalee Rose.
The adrenaline rush of attending BBC America’s U.S. Premiere Fan Screening of the new 8th Season of Doctor Who, part of the Doctor Who World Tour was the fuel that had this little Whovian happier than could be, and too excited to sleep!
Click ahead for a brief recap of the evenings events and some highlights of Lindalee’s adventures on and off the camera during the evening.
Last night at the world famous Ziegfeld Theater in New York the air was alive with thousands of fans from the tri-state area and beyond who culminated to show their support for the 50 year old British sci-fi television drama; Doctor Who.
Our resident Whovian; Lindalee Rose was granted special backstage access and not only chatted it up with the host for the event ad emcee for the post screening Q&A, Chris Hardwick of the Nerdist, but also caught the show’s Executive Producer Steven Moffat, current companion Jenna Coleman and the latest incarnation to play the rogue time-lord from Gallifrey, the 12th Doctor himself; Peter Capaldi. All of whom have been traveling tirelessly on a 7 country stop to promote the new season of the show, which premieres August 23rd.
The cast & crew were in attendance as the enormous crowd in the theater kept an incredible energy going thru the whole viewing of the new episode “Deep Breath” as it debuted for the first time in America on the big screen. From applause, clapping, laughs and some unexpected “awwws”.
Following the movie, the real treat was a 30 minute question & answer session with Peter, Jenna and Steven, hosted by Chris Hardwick. Fans from Brooklyn to Texas took to the microphone to ask the burning and pondering questions that some Whovians from around the world have been asking for months about the new doctor and his new (and old) adventures.
Overall, it was an exciting night for any Doctor Who fan, but especially unforgettable for one of the biggest and youngest, our own Lindalee Rose. Following her interview with Peter and Jenna she was seen misty eyed and over-heard saying “I can’t believe what just happened, I am going to cry right now”. A night clearly she will never forget with memories that will last forever.
Beyond the Marquee would like to once again extend a HUGE thank you to the BBC America UK and NYC team, as well as our dedicated and supportive friends over at the Nerdist, all of whom made this a truly special experience.
