FINAL Version of Fan-Made ‘Star Wars Uncut: Director’s Cut’ Debuts

If you grew up a STAR WARS fan, (like me), then at some point in your childhood (like me) and yes, for some of us even in adult-hood (like me), you may have re-inacted some scene or moment from the films in the company of friends and/or family (and like me, sometimes alone…shhhh). Well this week the full-length version of Star Wars Uncut: the Director’s Cut made it’s anticipated debut on the Internet. It encompasses over 2 years of one fans desire to recreate the original  1977 film, made up of scenes that were all home- made with a wonderful tribute mixed of live-action and animation. It’s an amazing testament to time, budget and creativity to watch these countless numbers of 15 second snippets (approx 473) assembled with dialogue, score and creative liscensing to give us one of the most interesting special-edition of the film yet, one made by fans, for fans.

How to make an Uncut Star Wars film...

Here’s an over view of the project as posted on the film’s official YouTube.com page;

In 2009, Casey Pugh asked thousands of Internet users to remake “Star Wars: A New Hope” into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted.

Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.

SWU has been featured in documentaries, news features and conferences around the world for its unique appeal. In 2010 we won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media.

Finally, the crowd-sourced project has been stitched together and put online for your streaming pleasure. The “Director’s Cut” is a feature-length film that contains hand-picked scenes from the entire StarWarsUncut.com collection.

Many thanks to Aaron Valdez (video editor – http://www.aaronvaldez.com) and Bryan Pugh (sound design/mixing – http://www.pughtube.com) for the countless hours they put into this masterpiece.

We can’t thank everyone enough for making this such a special project.
