Now that we’re done Ho-Ho-Ho’ing, it’s time to start Yo-Ho-Ho’ing with our friends Jake and Neverland Pirates and Disney Junior’s latest DVD of the swashbuckling young adventurers!

The new “Battle for the Book” DVD (now available) has 4 fantastically fun episodes (which equals over 2 hours of fun for the whole family!) Oh, and it includes an exclusive checker board bandana and gold coins that you can only get with this DVD!

About the Movie: When Wendy’s special Storybook is stolen by Captain Hook, Jake and his mates go to London to help Peter Pan’s friend (from the classic movie Peter Pan).  The longer the book is out of Wendy’s hands, the more she and her brothers (John and Michael) forget about their past adventures on Never Land.  The battle for the book continues in Never Land, where Hook plans to destroy the book and its stories in the legendary Ring of Blue Fire.  It’s up to our young heroes to save Wendy’s Storybook and the Story of Peter Pan!

The Darlings meet Jake and the Neverland Pirates

REVIEW: One of our BTM staffers had a chance to watch the DVD with his children and get an extra sample of the pirate goodies being offered in our contest this week. He’s and shared some pictures and some of their comments from their pirate party below;

Having a pirate party with our own Battle for the Book goodies…

“How come everybody looks so weird?”

I’m not quite sure why the animation looked so odd in this, but it wasn’t just the little kids who noticed this right away. I hate to say that it looks like the animation was rushed, but it certainly does not have the visual sharpness and uniformity that the normal episodes possess. There’s a strange distorted appearance that can be overlooked amidst the familiar voices, fun adventures and catchy songs within the movie.

The plush Skully was a huge hit!

“Can you get us the CD of the songs so we can sing this in the car?”

Yes there were catchy songs that at least gave us a break from “Let it Go” being played one more time on the family JAMBOX. You and your family will be singing along in no time to; Destroy The Book, Help Us Now, London Ahoy, Never Land Ahoy, Remember Peter Pan and Once Upon a Time.

The cannonball plunger gun provides hours of play, especially to knock over the mini Jake & friends figures…

“Huh? Where’s the Gold Doubloons in this movie daddy?”

Well I think this may be the first Jake we’ve watched in years where they didn’t make an appearance!

“Oooh, they’ve never been to Wendy’s house, that’s cool”

Yes, it was cool, this was the first time the Neverland gang of kids travelled to London and got to meet Wendy, Michael, John and even Nana the dog. Really fun to see other characters from the beloved story having some cameos in this hit pre-school series.

Yo-Ho-Ho!!!

“This was so much fun daddy, can we watch it again?”

Indeed the episode itself was a lot of fun, and running around 45 minutes it was a great adventure that continues the stories of Jake and the Neverland Pirates and their adventures with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.

NOTE: The DVD also includes the episodes; Treasure of the Pirate Mummy’s Tomb/Mystery of the Missing Treasure!, Pirate Genie Tales, Captain Gizmo/Jake’s Pirate Swap Meet, and Sleeping Mermaid/Jake’s Mega-Mecha Sword.
