The Pool Boys, available on DVD, BluRay and on iTunes

Last week our friends over at Seven Arts Picture, Entertainment One, and RGM offered us some copies of the hit comedy The Pool Boys (starring Matthew Lillard, Efren Ramirez, Rachelle Lefevre and Tom Arnold), and even enticed us with getting some of the beautiful stars of the film Simona Fusco and Sheena Lee to autograph them. We asked Beyond the Marquee readers to submit their wildest, most memorable or fun stories that pertained to a public or private pool. We had an overwhelming turnout of submissions, we narrowed down our selection and are proud to now announce our winners.

Winner #1 (Nick Battaglia, 24, Tampa FL)

I was in high school and  I worked as a lifeguard for a few years at the local community pool. One Summer I finally asked out on a date Hannah, one of the regular cute pool instructors I’d been talking to all year. When I went to her house to pick her up she came downstairs she just looked drop dead gorgeous in this hot little dress and her hair all down. I’d only ever seen her in a one piece bathing suit and with her hair pulled back, so as we were walking out I turned to her right in front of her mother and said “I think this is the 1st time I’ve seen you with clothes on”. Hannah’s mom’s mouth dropped open in shock and we quickly had to explain what I’d meant. Good times.

Winner #2 (Darren Hollis, 33, Sherman Oaks, CA)

When I was a little kid, I took swim lessons at the local YMCA, one day during class I smelled something foul but couldn’t figure out what it was, suddenly one of the other kids yells “Michael Pooped in the Pool!!!” Yep, one of our fellow swimmers had an accident in his pants and it was surfacing. The instructors all blew their whistles and it was suddenly like the scene from JAWS when people were scrambling out of the ocean, it was nuts!  The pool was evacuated and one of the lifeguards came back with a huge bucket of powder that he dumped into the area we were in (shock treatment chlorine to kill the germs). Our class was cancelled and Michaels mom quickly took him into the locker room to change him. We guessed either him or his mom were too embarrassed about the situation because we never saw them again at the YMCA.

Winner #3 (Leah, 27, Plano TX)

(NOTE: We made an exception on this “story” because it’s really a funny pool related joke, but we thought it was a good contender worth the effort, and we loved it)

One day, a CEO of a company threw a party for his executives at his mansion. At the back of the mansion, the CEO had a large swimming pool anyone had ever seen. The pool was, however, filled with hungry alligators. The CEO told his executives “I think an employee should be measured by courage. Today I am what I am because of my courage and this is what has made me a CEO. So this is a challenge to all of you present here: Who has the courage to dive into this pool, swim through these alligators, and make it to the other side? The one who will do it will win anything they desire – money, property, jewels, anything!”

All the employees laughed at the outrageous offer and proceeded to follow the CEO. Suddenly, they heard a loud splash. Everyone turned around and saw that the HR manager was in the pool, swimming for his life. He dodged the alligators left and right and made it to the edge of the pool. He pulled himself out just as a huge alligator was about to snap at his shoes. The flabbergasted CEO said, “You are amazing. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. You are brave and surely beyond measure and I will give you anything you want. Tell me what I can do for you. The manager panted for breath, looked up and said, “Can you tell me who pushed me in the pool?”
