Beyond the Marquee: The Web-Series (Episode 14): FIRELIGHT Red Carpet Premiere

Tuesday, May 1st at Fox Studios, Beyond the Marquee attended the red carpet premiere of Hallmark’s Hall of Fame original move “Firelight.” The film, starring Cuba Gooding Jr., follows the true story of DJ, a counselor at a youth correctional facility who helps troubled girls turn their lives around. Through his rigorous training program, the young women will learn how to work as a team amidst life-threatening natural disasters and inner-conflict.

While audiences are sure to see tensions rise amongst the girls on screen, stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Siona Smit-McPhee, Dewanda Wise, Q’Orianka Kilcher, Rey Valentin, Emily Tremaine, July Ivey, screenwriter Ligiah Villalo, and (the real) Dwayne Johnson were thick as thieves (or in the case of Firelight, juvenile delinquents) on the red carpet.

Laughter and levity abounded at the premiere as the cast and crew cracked jokes, shared hugs, and (repeatedly) complimented fellow marquee-ist Allison Tate-Cortese’s handshake (which is rumored to be the firmest grip in tinsel town). In doing so, they created a friendly and familial environment that will be matched only by the film itself, which premieres Sunday, April 22 (9:00-11:00, ET) on the ABC Television Network. Don’t miss it!
