Does a New Casting for IRON MAN 3 give clues to Tony Starks new Suit?

IRON MAN 3

With MARVEL’S AVENGERS here in less than a couple weeks the rumor mill has begun about new characters, films and plot-lines of upcoming MARVEL projects such as Captain America 2, THOR 2, and IROM MAN 3. One of our Beyond the Marquee readers sent us in an interesting discovery with the recent casting announcement for IRON MAN 3. Does this character give an exciting hint about Tony Starks newest suit?

BTM reader Daniela raises an interesting hypothesis, take a read;

Hi there Beyond the Marquee, so I just read about the latest casting announcement for the new IRON MAN 3 movie which starts shooting very soon. According to what I read, Guy Pearce has been cast as geneticist Aldrich Killian.

Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian

Now to me that confirms that the new Iron Man will be based on the “Extremis” series (6 comics, 2010) which revolves around nano-technology and in which Aldrich creates a techno-organic virus that changes DNA and affects or sort of integrates the powers/skills the heroes have with their bodies by changing their DNA (Cable is the most famous example of this, his whole body is part mechanical part biological due to an infection with this virus.

But back to Iron Man in Extremis: Iron Man gets infected with this techno-organic virus, his suit of armor becomes integrated with his bones and DNA, no longer has to be put on / taken off mechanically, it becomes a part of his body which he can control. When the suit appears it kind of looks like this as it’s popping up in fragments on his body:

Anyway. In the new AvX (AVENGERS VS X-MEN) 1&2 Iron Man appears to be controlling his suit of armor this way, it appears and disappears at will in fragments without him taking it off, just like that! Look at his face on bottom right of this..

AVX IRON MAN Nanotechnology?

What do you think readers? Another “alive” suit similar to that of Peter Parker’s old symbiotic Spidey costume? Voice your comments below and thanks to Daniela for the email.

And we’ll give an update if we hear of anything on this new casting development and see if Daniela’s hunch was on target…
