A Royal Affair, Opulance in Both Story and Costume (Film Review)

Picturesque, intriguing and romantic the odd love story of the strange King of Denmark comes to theaters this weekend.  Called A Royal Affair, the opulent period piece transports the viewer back to the late 1700’s for an inside look at a time of ‘Enlightenment’ when this country was ruled by tyrants who deceived the crown.  Take a look into this interesting world of idealism, insecurity and revolution.

The true story of the Danish King Christian VII (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) who takes Caroline Mathilda (Alicia Vikander) of England to be his Queen is at the center of this beautiful costume piece.  While King Christian has a mental illness and depends largely on his advisors who make favorable decisions for the court, but chastise the people of his realm, have caused unrest.  His new wife urges him to take advice from his newly appointed German doctor Johann Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen) who has visions of a free society. While he loves Queen Caroline, so does Johann and a love triangle of sorts ensues leading up a rebellion in the kingdom that changes forever.

Beyond the Marquee: the Web Series (Ep.37) – The Dark Knight Legend Exhibit

Not too long back, we were thrilled to be invited by our friends at Warner Bros. Archives to visit Warner Bros.  Home Entertainment’s Dark Knight Legend exhibit in Los Angeles that celebrated the release of The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-Ray and DVD.  Beyond the Marquee’s own, Steve Czarnecki, was on hand with Warner Bros. Corporate Archivist, Mark Greenhalgh, to get a personal tour of all the wonderful toys, sets, costumes and props related to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy as well as iconic items from the classic TV series and previous incarnations of Batman on film.

Imagine being immersed inside a huge Batcave that not only contained tons of props and costumes from the recent trilogy, but also managed to squeeze in six Batmobiles plus the Batpod!  The exhibit was an amazing and comprehensive look into Bruce Wayne’s world.  Our cameras were rolling as our guide Mark clued us in to never-before-revealed secrets about the costumes, props and vehicles from the Dark Knight trilogy. If you’re a Bat Fan, check out the episode and be prepared to learn some trivia that will take you beyond the myth and legend of Batman.  Enjoy!

Lindalee Rose Reviews THE LITTLEST PET SHOP (DVD Review)

When we received our advance copy of Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory Kids DVD of Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures, we turned it right over to our very own 4 1/2 year old reviewer Lindalee Rose to watch.  (If you don’t know who Lindalee Rose is by now, check out her internationally acclaimed Doctor Who reviews right here on BTM.)

Well to say the DVD was a hit in Lindalee’s household is an understatement. Apparently, it has become almost a daily ritual for the past few weeks to have this show playing either in the house or in the car en-route to places. What appears to be just another animated series created to promote cute girls toys actually really holds some fun writing, catchy pop songs and clever/comedic plot lines that hold their own without feeling like a blatant plug for cute wide-eyed toys. When we heard how excited Lindalee was about this DVD, we decided to have her do a quick review of it — you’ll see that it clearly is something that delights her to no end. Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures , the first DVD collection based on Hasbro’s popular LITTLEST PET SHOP brand and new animated series hits shelves TODAY.

Clear out your Garage, this Saturday you could own the Original 1966 Batmobile!!!

The 1966 Batmobile is up for Sale!!! Don’t tell the Joker!!!

Holy Movie Car Auctions Batman!!! This Saturday, for the 1st TIME ever, the original Batmobile from the 1966 Batman TV series is up for auction!!! The 1966 Batmobile by George Barris is the most recognized and popular piece of entertainment history, worldwide, that has become an icon, an icon that has been carried from generation to generation of Batmobiles to follow. This vehicle not only marks the significant bat logo that sits on the middle of its door, but a time in television history where they defied the odds of making a car become the star. Still as beautiful as when it first came out of the paint shop, this 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car has been apart of the personal collection of George Barris since he first bought it from the Ford Motor Company for $1. After having a meeting with the producer of the TV Show, William Dozier, George was left with the challenge of 15 days and $15,000 budget. Before George knew it, the Lincoln Futura was underway to becoming what others will always remember to be the Original Batmobile. Besides seeing the likes of the infamous, Adam West and Burt Ward (Batman and Robin), this car has been on a variety of television/movie sets, car shows and museums around the nation. To go even further, this car is exclusively featured in Christopher Nolan’s Batmobile Documentary, which is one of the major bonuses in the Dark Knight Rise’s DVD. In honor of the big auction, our friends over at Chapman Automotive Group, supplied us with this cool info-graphic of other famous Star Cars and what they sold for at auction over recent years, click ahead to take a look!
