Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS) taps Jennifer Lee to join Chris Buck at the helm of its 53rd full-length animated feature “Frozen,” which is slated for the big screen on Nov. 27, 2013. Lee, who has contributed to the film’s screenplay, is one of the screenplay writers of this year’s hit arcade-hopping adventure “Wreck-It Ralph.” Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, “Frozen” is the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.
Take a Peek at the Doctor Who Christmas Prequel, “The Great Detective”
November 28th, 2012
Beyond the Marquee With less than a month away from December 25th, the anticipation is high for the Christmas Special for the BBC’s long running sci-fi series; Doctor Who. Check out the video above which is a bit of a prologue to the “The Snowmen” episode which runs on Christmas Day. In this video Matt Smith (the Doctor) and Jenna Louise Coleman (as his new companion Clara) introduce the Doctor Who Christmas Prequel, “The Great Detective”, in which Vastra, Jenny and Strax try to persuade the grumpy Doctor to engage again in what he does best, still a bit depressed and defeated from his last episode in which he lost Amy and Rory Pond to the Weeping Angels, the Doctor embodies a bit of Scrooge’ness in this set-up, but hopefully it won’t be long until he’s back to his old ways.
The Griswolds Are Back in an Old Navy Family Christmas Commercial for Pop Pants
November 28th, 2012
Beyond the Marquee
It’s been great to watch Chevy Chase over the past few years reprise the Clark W Griswold chracter along with his wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo) in commercials that keep the National Lampoon Vacation movies alive and current. So now, what a treat to see him and some of the Griswolds and their extended family back for the holidays in the new Old Navy ad for Pop Pants. According to the YouTube video description; This holiday season, Old Navy is bringing in the Griswolds to help you decorate your whole family in colorful Pop Pants! Wear bright all the way with Adults $19 and Kids $15 at Old Navy. Come fun, come all! Valid 11/25/12-12/8/12. Select Styles only. Pop Pants do not actually change color. US Only. Nice to see Juliette Lewis back, as it’s notorious in the films for the Griswold kids (Audrey and Rusty) to always be played by different actors. Something fun also to be had with Martin Short providing the narration…had Steve Martin made a cameo, it would have made for a nice Three Amigos reunion!

Red Dawn, Defending Our Homeland (Film Review)
November 26th, 2012
John Delia
The strong emerging cast combined with a compelling story makes Red Dawn a strapping box-office contender in the crowed film arena. Aimed at teen to twenties mixed viewers, the movie should attract a solid following for the long haul. Although a remake, this recreation of the 1984 hit with the same title has all the action elements that should press the target audience’s adrenaline buttons.
Smashed, Days of Alcoholism and Romance (Film Review)
November 26th, 2012
John Delia Nicely acted the film Smashed takes you on a journey of alcoholism and denial. The movie does a good job of opening windows into the humiliating, demeaning and dire consequences of addiction to alcohol. While not a Days of Wine and Roses, the film does make good grades as an educational tool.
The movie centers on a young married couple, Charlie (Aaron Paul) and Kate Hannah (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), both addicted to alcohol. While Charlie has accepted his fate and feels he has control of his addiction, Kate’s way off the radar when it comes to realizing the consequences of her actions.
