“GET HARD” (Film Review & Trailer)

Wacky, Madcap and insane, but what else would you expect when Will Farrell and Kevin Hart team up for a movie. The two outlandish comedians put Get Hard over the top in this irreverent comedy that should keep audiences laughing way after they leave the theater. That is unless you are easily offended by all the rude, nude and crude.

QUEEN AND COUNTRY poster

“QUEEN AND COUNTRY” (Indie Film Review & Trailer)

Spooling out his final film Writer/Director John Boorman makes it a sequel and a good one at that. His Queen and Country being released in the United States takes his characters into the 1950’s as a follow up to Hope and Glory set during WWII. He works his magic one more time with interesting characters, some comedy, military boot camp drama and a whole lot of romance. Beautifully filmed, it’s a masterpiece of a period gone by that saw England transfer the crown to Elizabeth II and turn boys into men.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episodes 2.11 – 2.14 (T.V. review)

SHIELD-season-2-banner

After devoting a double-length critique to Agent Carter‘s final episode (hopefully final only for now), I’ll now go the opposite direction by devoting one critique to four — count ‘em, FOUR! — full episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Consider it my attempt to break the world record for number of shows recounted in a single article, if such a record exists (and if not then it should). Or think of it as my way of catching up on S.H.I.E.L.D. after falling behind on Carter. (I mentioned that my last Carter review was twice the usual length, right? Right.)

Without further ado, let’s dive back into the espionage exploits of Coulson and company.

“IT FOLLOWS” (Indie Film Review & Trailer)

Very daunting, compelling, edgy and different the chiller It Follows takes you on a horror ride where sex is key and death the consequence. The disturbing film takes on a complex storyline and sorts it all out during the finale. Perfect for fans that like a good scare and staying with you for a long time after leaving the theater. The movie should do well at the box-office with the teens and twenties being target audience.

71 POSTER a

“’71” (Indie Film Review & Trailer)

One of the most brutal wars comes to the screen and it does not involve the United States. In this film we get to see one day during the Irish Revolution between the Protestants and the Catholics. Most of us watched the news as the war dragged on for years, but up until now I haven’t seen a movie about the war so compelling as ’71. Not knowing what side to take in this fight shouldn’t matter here, it’s just the inhumanity that counts and the eerie gut wrenching window to survival for one man.

INTO WOODS boxart

“INTO THE WOODS” (Blu-ray Review & Trailer)

The fun film Into the Woods has been released on Blu-ray and it’s dazzling. The fast moving situation comedy takes the audience on a fantasy trip with characters from the classic tales Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Cinderella. The fairytale characters collide on a fateful day when the Baker’s Wife decides to have a child. Based on the Steven Sondheim play, the live action with CGI film grossed just under $200 million worldwide theatrically.
