MARQUEE MAMA Reviews “STRANGE MAGIC”

MARQUEEMAMA-STRANGEMGC

If the title of “Strange Magic” casts its spell on you, as it did me, you will enter the theater craving the strangely magical ELO 70’s hit tune. But you will have to wait for that. I rarely tout a movie’s soundtrack in advance of discussing the movie first, but in this case, the eclectic and abundant soundtrack vies for its own attention. Modified versions of assorted pop songs of the decades by artists like the Doors and Heart to Lady Gaga (and of course Electric Light Orchestra) almost serve as narrator to the film. But to enjoy this music, you must appreciate very modified versions. If you don’t, you’re in for a long 99-minute movie.

BOY NEXT DOOR poster

“THE BOY NEXT DOOR” (Film Review)

No surprise here, Jennifer Lopez is still good to look at on the big screen. Glowing and gorgeous the actress brightens up the screen in most of her scenes. However, that’s all that’s good about The Boy Next Door.  There’s sloppy acting, off standard direction, choppy editing and a story so predictable I couldn’t wait till the credits rolled. Actually, being released in January during the roll-out of the Oscar Nominated movies gives the biggest clue that The Boy Next Door has no guts to be a contender. If you guys have a crush on Lopez or the over 17-year-young ladies want their fill of rippling abs, then you may want to duck into this empty headed claptrap, but you’ll be the only ones watching.

Behind the Scenes STAR WARS: REBELS Video – Billy Dee Williams aka Lando Returns!

Lando with Chopper

Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) confers with the rambunctious Chopper droid in the STAR WARS: REBELS episode: “Idiot’s Array”.

Lando Calrissian, dashing rogue and friend to Han Solo (and who eventually lost the Millenium Falcon to Solo in a card game), returns in a new STAR WARS: REBELS episode tonight on Disney XD — titled: “Idiot’s Array”. When Zeb loses Chopper in a game of cards to Calrissian, the crew of the Ghost agrees to help the smooth-talking scoundrel make a dangerous cargo run in trade for their astromech. But when Lando plots a risky scheme to trade Hera for secret cargo, the crew gets far more than it bargained for. Here now is a behind-the-scenes video with actor Billy Dee Williams recording his Calrissian character for the episode!

STILL ALICE poster

Still Alice, a Heartfelt Drama that Delivers a Punch (Film Review)

One of the most heartfelt films for 2014 Still Alice opens wide this weekend. Having lived with the debilitating forces of Alzheimer’s within my family I can say it’s a very realistic depiction. The film has an excellent director with a crew and cast that’s perfectly lead by Julianne Moore in the title role. It’s a must see film for those who are living with a loved one who may have the illness, interested adults and moviegoers that want a good cry.

Beyond the Marquee: The Web-Series (Episode 73) – The PADDINGTON Los Angeles Premiere

Junior BTM Reporter; Lindalee Rose takes to the red-carpet of the Los Angeles Premiere for PADDINGTON, the new live-action movie about the classic mischievous bear from Peru.

On hand at the TCL Chinese Theater to celebrate the release were the films Director; Paul King, Producer; David Heyman, Actress; Nicole Kidman and a guest list of Hollywood elite.

Poised with the mission to find out if any of the cast or crew ever had a favorite teddy bear or cherished toy of their own in their childhood, Lindalee took to the red-carpet to find out just that!
