STAR WARS Stormtrooper cosplay and remote controlled R2-D2 at WonderCon.

The Force was strong with WonderCon — sister convention of Comic-Con — when it came out of hyperspace and landed at the Anaheim Convention Center April 18 – 20. An armada of STAR WARS cosplayers attended from all sectors of the galaxy — and convention goers got to further delve into the STAR WARS universe via a panel for the upcoming STAR WARS: REBELS animated series. Here is video of that entire panel — as well as some pictures of the STAR WARS cosplay.

Other Woman POSTER 2

“The Other Woman” Revenge is Sweet (Film Review)

Wacky and often romantic and even sometimes sensual The Other Woman takes center stage this weekend to see if there’s enough girl power to claim the box-office.  The movie starts out intimately and then moves on to a farcical comedy insuring a lot of girl talk well after the final credits. While most men will be rooster pecking at the salacious premise of the script, the ladies who giggle during the film have either been in similar situations before or know someone who has, just saying.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode 18: Providence (T.V. review)

shield

After some incredibly tense twists and turns in recent episodes of Agents of Hydra S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s nice to have a lighter tone reappear with this week’s adventureI’m not talking about the juvenile antics of Skye and Fitz-Simmons that alienated viewers (myself included) in early episodes.  Thankfully the spy kids have grown up.  The lighter tone in Providence arrives courtesy of guest star Patton Oswalt.

Oswalt is a fanboy of the highest accord.  He proved his geek cred with last year’s Parks & Rec filibuster where he ad-libbed a Star Wars VII pitch full of Marvel superheroes that was set in a shared universe far, far away (i.e. Disney Studios).  His S.H.I.E.L.D. character may only be a Level 6 agent, but when it comes to Marvel fanatics, Patton is an unparalleled Level 8.

Under skin POSTER 1

“Under the Skin” A Provocative Chiller (Film Review)

Dark, brooding, wicked, seductive, mesmerizing and more, Under the Skin is a vision of disturbing eroticism and mystery.  Featuring an absorbing performance by Scarlett Johansson in a complex role with many empty pages of dialogue, the film shamelessly burros into the viewers mind.  Slowly letting out clues, director Jonathan Glazer leads his audience on a blindfolded trip into the unknown.
