The Psycho House

The Psycho House

Just like there are petitions to save great historical landmarks for the preservation of heritage and for the education of future generations, now there is one to save a piece of iconic movie history from being lost forever. “The Psycho House”on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot in Hollywood, CA has been standing since it’s construction in 1959 for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic horror movie “PSYCHO”. The “Bates Motel” was the home to Norman Bates and his over-protected Mother who managed the Bates family motel at the base of the home. This iconic set piece has stood the test of time thru the extreme Hot/Cold elements of Southern California weather, Earthquakes and even numerous fires on the nearby Universal back-lot, but now it faces it’s greatest threat, neglect. Click ahead to read about the reasoning behind the petition that Change.org is asking to restore and save this piece of movie history.

“The Adventurer” A Cool Captivating Film (Video Review)

An intriguing mystery film The Adventurer: Curse of The Midas Box is now available on Blu-ray and DVD. The captivating film, taken from the first book in a series by G.P. It’s a great follow-up for Teens and tweens who will enjoy this high adventure of the search for a magical box that will turn anything into gold.  The movie features fine acting by the whole cast under the direction of Jonathan Newman.   While the movie targets youngsters, most parents should enjoy the story that mirrors some books from their childhood like The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries.

Get on the Grid to Sochi

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are underway — and The Wall Street Journal reports that in the midst of the elaborate opening — Disney’s TRON provides inspiration for the ceremony. As blogged by Gregory White for the WSJ: “The last element before the torch-lighting is called ‘Olympic Gods’ and takes its theme from the movie TRON, complete with Daft Punk’s ‘The Game Has Changed.’ Rollerstakers with LED-lit costumes swirl around the stadium under giant sculptures symbolizing winter sports and watching over the Games.” We’ve just gotten some pics in from that performance and you can check them out below.

BTM EXCLUSIVE! Will Drew Struzan Paint the ‘Back to the Future: The Musical’ Poster?

With the recent news of a Back to the Future musical opening next year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the popular time-travel trilogy, some fans are eagerly wondering if legendary movie poster artist, Drew Struzan, will be returning to create a painting for the musical production. To have Drew Struzan come out of retirement to once again paint Doc and Marty for the new BTTF interpretation would be pretty heavy for loyal fans of the hit movie franchise.

Back to the Future fan and Beyond the Marquee’s Founder, Steve Czarnecki, decided to get the answer out of the way sooner than later for himself and his fellow futurians. Sending BTM’s own Jon Donahue to meet up with our good friend Drew Struzan at the Forest Lawn Museum during the Drew & Bob: Masters of Movie Art Exhibition, we got the Exclusive word from the master artist himself.

Check back early next week for our full coverage BTM: The Web-Series segment on the opening reception of the Masters of Movie Art Exhibition featuring the works of Drew Struzan and Bob Peak. We meet with friends, family, fans and filmmakers connected to these movie poster legends to discuss their life and work.
