President James Marshall, AIR FORCE ONE – One of the most beloved action stars ever, Harrison Ford stars as the quintessential dad: The President of the United States and leader of the free world. Darth Vader, STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK – It’s true, not all dads use their powers for good. Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, may be the Supreme Commander of the “dark side” and the righthand to its evil emperor, but let’s not forget it was his overwhelming love for wife and family that lead him astray. Surely his last-minute conversaion and deathbed proclamations to his son Luke count in the hearts of the good.
George Banks, FATHER OF THE BRIDE – It doesn’t take much to send George Banks into a fit of anxiety, so when his only daughter announces she’s engaged, it sends dad right over the top. Luckily, in the end, he actually does.
Reverend Shaw Moore, FOOTLOOSE – John Lithgow’s Reverend is the conservative roadblock to town newcomer Ren’s (Kevin Bacon) rock n’ roll dancing ways. After a horrible accident scars his hometown, the Reverend endorses a ban on music and dancing, much to his daughter’s dismay. But when Ren comes to town and falls for the reverend’s girl, he’s determined to break through those protective chains and turn everything around.
James Court, SAY, ANYTHING – His daughter, Diane, is the high school Valedictorian with a loving boyfriend and nothing but opportunity on the horizon, so why can’t James Court (John Mahoney) take a chill pill? Probably because he’s about to be indicted by the government for tax evasion. Luckily, his plea to his daughter to end things with her boyfriend Lloyd are ultimately unheard.
