I wasn’t too sure of what to expect from the folks at  DreamWorks and the creators of one of my favorite animated films of the past several years, How To Train Your Dragon…but I really found myself enjoying their latest offering in Blu-ray 3-D, Rise Of The Guardians! Out on home video today, this holiday infused overload of animation and fun is one not to miss, click ahead to read our review below…

Now you may have seen the trailers or flashy marketing campaign and wondered what this holiday mash up of super hero’esque looking characters of Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Jack Frost was all about, well here’s the official synopsis:

When an evil spirit known as Pitch Black (Jude Law), the reviled Bogeyman, lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians — Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), the Sandman and spirit of winter Jack Frost (Chris Pine) — must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs, and imaginations of children all over the world.

Hands down, if you have kids and a 3-D television, Rise Of The Guardians is a sight to behold! The characters seem to literally be rising (no pun intended) out of the screen and the 3-D depth of their surroundings truly makes your jaw drop…at least it did mine! I also really enjoyed the voice talent, nice work by all! Kids will be fascinated by all of the colorful images and kooky characters that fly off the screen, and adults will appreciate the story and artistry that went into the making of this gem. Although, not as good as How To Train Your Dragon, in my opinion this is still a solid piece of work. Just make sure you watch it in the third dimension…truly a treat for the eyes!

Picture and Sound: The images are sharp and very, very colorful and the Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound truly sucks you in and completes the experience perfectly.
