Beyond the Marquee Does Elijah Wood Walk the Floor of Comic Con?
July 19th, 2013
Beyond the Marquee With San Diego’s Comic-Con in full swing this week, you might wonder what celebrities will be seen walking the show floor in-between their appearances in the Exhibit Halls. Some celebs attend just to do their part for a studio’s Publicity dept. and quickly head home. However, there are also a good number of celebrity attendees who were fans of Comic-Con before they became famous and like to stick around to check things out.
Like the other attendees, they get excited by the overwhelming amounts of toys, comics, and collectibles on display and will often walk the halls (sometimes with security) or blend in with the hundreds of cosplay characters, completely avoiding recognition.
In a recent Beyond the Marquee interview with the star of The Hobbit and Disney’s TRON:Uprising; Elijah Wood provided some insight when asked if he ever walked the Comic-Con floor as a fan. Here’s his response:
For a Change of Pace Choose “The Way, Way Back” (Film Review)
July 19th, 2013
John Delia
With a lot of heart and creative storytelling The Way, Way Back has made its way into movie theaters giving summer a break from action attraction films. The nicely acted, directed and produced coming of age film gets high marks for compassion, laughter and regret. If you are tired of the shooting, smashing, crushing, pulverizing, attacking, dismemberment and aggressive films that have crowded box-offices this summer, take in this charming indie for a nice change of pace.
The Ladies Make “Red 2” an Action Sequel (Film Review)
July 19th, 2013
John Delia
The action comedy Red 2 comes to theaters, but its Catherine Zeta-Jones and Helen Mirren that command the screen. While the whole crew is back for a second dip into the world of International Crime while on the run from their former CIA bosses, it’s these two ladies that make an impact. For a fun romp around Europe from London to Moscow this shoot’em up’s an optional choice for action lovers.
The Terror Level is High in “Evidence” (Film Review)
July 19th, 2013
John Delia
Opening this week in select cities Evidence makes its way into Los Angeles on a very busy weekend of summer movies. The crime film should have a pretty good shot at attracting the horror crowed with this razor sharp gore fest of cutting torch savagery. The thriller has some realistic camera work with most sequences shot with hand held cameras. If you like your crime films that are explicit with terror, than Evidence is a must see.
There’s Something Evil “Under The Bed” (Film Review)
July 19th, 2013
John Delia
There’s a cool little indie that’s cunningly terrifying at theaters called Under The Bed, and it keeps the scare level high. Taking a page from Evil Dead the film does a good job of heightening the suspense and horror tantalizing the imagination. The central acting and direction here are quite good with strong supporters that help to keep the story a solid winner.
