“Sometimes Blu Is Better” Pet Sematary – (Blu-ray Review)

Available on Blu-ray October 2nd from Paramount Home Video!

The Creed family have just moved into their dream home. Everything is perfect…except for the semi-trucks that barrel down their narrow road and the Indian burial ground behind their house! Stephen King’s tale of horror was brought to the big screen back in 1989 and performed well at the box office. The cast includes Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby and Herman Munster himself, Fred Gwynn. Now, when I first saw this on the big screen, I was in high school and just finished reading the novel. I wasn’t known as a “reader” back in the 80’s, but King had me hooked on his every word. I couldn’t put it down. So, needless to say, I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, as it was about to open at the theatre I worked at. When opening day came, my friend Steve, the projectionist, offered to screen the film just for me before we opened the doors to the public. I took him up on his offer and watched Pet Sematary all alone, in the darkened 800 seat theatre. I really enjoyed it. Of course, it wasn’t nearly as good as the book, but few films are, right? That weekend we sold out every show and had lines stretching around the block. It was exciting! Those were the good ‘ol days as a teenager working at the movies.

MASTER poster

The Master, a Poignant Acting Gem (Film Review)

One of the better drama’s you’ll see this year comes to the screen and it’s a creative winner.  Called The Master, the film features excellence all around from cast to crew.  The deeply fascinating and provoking film has all the trappings for Oscar Nominations.

END WATCH poster

End of Watch, a Startling Cop Thriller (Film Review)

Crime dramas seem to be taking over the action entertainment scene as witnessed on both the big screen and television.  End of Watch however, happens to be one of the better ones.  Realistically presented, the movie gets into the nitty-gritty bowels of one of the most notorious crime areas in America, South Central Los Angeles. The film takes a different tack on most crime movies by showing the human side of our men in blue.

A Cabin Right Up My Woods! (Blu-ray Review)

Cabin in the Woods Blu-ray

If only they had listened to my pleas for company. I should have sucked it up and gone by myself in my hoodie like I did when I saw District 9. It would have been well worth the humiliation of flying solo in the darkened theater. For starters, There is an evil mission control of sorts under this cabin and it’s chock full of some bad karma down the road.  Soulless ones play and bet on the unsuspecting teens fate. The idea of the chambers of monsters and other unearthly delights was very refreshing I just hope that glass is really thick. If they survive, the clean up crew is gonna be pissed. I heard someone call Cabin In The Woods the greatest installment of Hollywood Squares and I chuckled.
