Did you ever wonder what happens to the myriad of props, costumes, and set pieces created for a film or television show after a movie has wrapped or a TV show comes to the end of its run? Do those items end up in a landfill, get placed on the auction block or maybe end up as valuable artifacts in a museum?
Beyond the Marquee set out to find the answers to those questions and many more when Warner Bros. Studios Archives graciously opened their doors to us for an exclusive look at the impressive Warner Bros. Museum.
In this first of three episodes covering the Museum, host Steve Czarnecki goes on an in-depth tour led by Warner Bros. Chief Archivist, Leith Adams, as they discuss some of the classic props and costumes from Warner Bros. Studios rich history.
Actress Majandra Delfino has had a busy career starring in numerous movies and TV shows, from “Unglued” , “Zeus and Roxanne“, ROSWELL and most recently ABC Family’s State of Georgia. She’s now slated to co-star with Rainn Wilson as Dwight’s sister in the Office spin-off “The Farm” about life on Shrute family’s beet farm. But did you know that in her youth Majandra had actively pursued a singing profession before the acting bug bit and she began her acting career in Hollywood? Neither did we until we received an email over the weekend from a “Rockin’ Rick” who claims to reside somewhere on the East Coast and works in Radio. Rick claims to have uncovered in the stations archives a possible previously unreleased recording of Majandra Delfino, singing along with Samantha Gibb (daughter of famous Bee Gee; Maurice Gibb). The song is called “Angel of Mercy” and we’ve attached the song below so click ahead and take a listen and let us know what you think. And thanks to Rick for sending us the scoop. There’s cause for great celebration in the Shire this weekend, for not only have we gotten a release date for the third film in Peter Jackson’s ambitious The Hobbit trilogy, but we’ve also got a name! Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema announced this late Friday afternoon that July 18, 2014 has been set for the release of The Hobbit: There and Back Again (which previously was the title given to the 2nd film). Now that film has been retitled to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. With only a 7 month break between the last two films, it will be an exciting year for fans of Middle Earth who will experience this new action packed and emotional set of films which take place nearly 60 years before The Lord of the Rings saga. Some precious news indeed to kick off the Labor Day weekend!
YouTube user FinalCutKing has uploaded a fun promotional commercial for REAL Hoverboards! Well as you know, REAL Hoverboards don’t exist, as we discovered during our behind the scenes BTM episodes of the prop-replica at Mattel. But that doesnt stop these young filmmakers with all the heart, passion and creativity at their disposal who will try and sell you otherwise on their existence!
