Totally out of control, the Bondurant brothers were a part of history that could only have been called Lawless. The movie that opens today builds on the almost true story of bootleggers in Virginia from a recollection by Matt Bondurant, the grandson of one of the three main characters. Lawless ‘shines’ in all departments including […]

Once Upon a Time, a Magical Season on Blu-ray (Video Review)
August 27th, 2012
John Delia One of the best series this year in my estimation Once Upon a Time: the Complete First Season has been released on Blu-ray in a box set. This fairytale has all the frills of a theatrical release including some nice special effects, commendable acting and a very good storyline. Intriguing, creative and exciting after the […]

August 24th, 2012
David Derks During the first part of 2012, it seems that films can be categorized as either a mega budget tent pole or low budget comedy. COSMOPOLIS, an Enlightening Effort by Cronenberg (Film Review)
August 23rd, 2012
John Delia Showing most all the ills in the world Cosmopolis gives its audience a slow moving picture of our decaying civilization. Although the film is nicely acted and directed, there’s too much crammed into the nearly two-hour movie to really appreciate the meaning of it all. The warning here insinuates the self-destruction of our great society.
REVENGE: The Complete First Season, Deliciously Decadent (DVD Review)
August 23rd, 2012
John Delia If you would like to know what retribution feels like then watch the television series “Revenge: The Complete First Season” is now on DVD. So nicely crafted you would think that author Mike Kelly must have had a close encounter with a vengeance-craving woman. Seriously though, I thought a female audience would best see […]

1 Comment »The Perfect Storm: MOONRISE KINGDOM (Film Review)
August 22nd, 2012
David Derks Quirkiness can be a difficult vehicle to tell a story. In the case of director Wes Anderson (who also co-wrote Moonrise Kingdom with Roman Coppola), it can sometimes mean style over substance. His films The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and The Royal Tenenbaums were drenched in style that at times overpowered the essence of […]
