Lindalee Rose Reports from the 24th Annual, 2013 Gallifrey One DOCTOR WHO Convention

In this episode, Beyond the Marquee’s own 4 & 1/2 year old resident “Doctor Who” fan and reviewer Lindalee Rose, experiences not only her first field reporting assignment, but her first Doctor Who convention!  Over the recent Valentine’s Day weekend, the 24th Annual Gallifrey One event in Los Angeles was home to thousands of Whovians who came out to celebrate this years 50th birthday for the popular BBC sci-fi franchise.  Surrounded by die hard fans, costumed characters, production crew and assorted cast from the hit-series (including some fun dialogue with 7th Doctor, Sylvester McCoy), Lindalee, with microphone in hand, fired up her TARDIS and headed out for an adventure that was out of this world.

After the jump, check out Lindalee’s fun behind-the-scenes pics from her personal photo album from the shoot and don’t miss watching Lindalee on-stage at the convention interviewing former companion to the Doctor; Martha Jones (aka actress Freema Agyeman).  So, hop into your TARDIS and relive these great moments in time!

Lindalee Rose Takes to the Stage at Gallifrey One for Her First DOCTOR WHO Convention

Beyond the Marquee’s own Lindalee Rose took a break from watching and reviewing “Doctor Who” episodes to attend Gallifrey One, the twenty-fourth installment of the world’s largest and longest-running Doctor Who fan convention in Los Angeles. Surrounded by fellow Whovians, she was on hand to interview fans, guests and cast and was even invited to be on stage with Freema Agyeman (aka Martha Jones, the companion to David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor, during the third series of Doctor Who in 2007.) During the end of Freema’s panel, Lindalee took to the stage to join in on the fun asking a question of Freema that Who fans have pondered for years.  She then closed out with an original knock-knock joke that had the 3,000+ attendees in the room laughing and cheering. Stick around as later on this week we’ll have Lindalee’s full-report from the convention. Many thanks to the staff of Gallifrey One for providing us with this cool opportunity.

BTM Followers, we want to know, “What would you ask legendary poster artist Drew Struzan?”

What would you ask Drew?

This Monday, Beyond the Marquee’s own Jon Donahue will be sitting down with our good friend Drew Struzan, the illustrator whose immeasurable amount of work has influenced motion picture marketing for decades. “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones”, “E.T.”, “Harry Potter”, “Back to the Future”, are just some of the hundreds of iconic and unforgettable movie posters that Drew has created in his lifetime. Since his retirement Drew has stayed out of the spotlight and interviews are now a rarity, but every once in awhile he keeps the ole’ blade sharp and returns to work on a creative side-project and invites some old pals to come shoot the breeze and play catch-up. With the upcoming documentary coming out soon about his life and work, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to sit down and chat with Drew and get some behind the scenes details on the new film. Because we value our readers and viewers, we want to offer you all a chance to piggyback on our time with Drew Struzan and get in a few questions in of your own. Do you have an inquiry about one of his classic paintings? Curiosity on what life after retirement is like? Perhaps a request to share a memory of his favorite filmmaker or favorite poster creation? Drop us a line in the comments below and submit your question and we’ll try our best to incorporate it into the handful we have lined up ourselves.

Happy Valentine’s Day, here’s a compilation of people being hit by Cars, Trucks and Busses in TV and Movies.

Being hit by a bus is never a fun thing, and lets face it, an unexpected car or truck pummeling is not a good time either, but Beyond the Marquee reader Denise Bruno from Minnesota sent us a link to what could be the greatest hits…literally of all time. Look, it happens, you’re talking on the phone, you’re distracted texting or maybe you’re engrossed in a conversation with someone, you step too far out on the curb into on-coming traffic and WHAM-O!!! While some scenes from this mash-up are quite impactful…literally and figuratively, others have a light-hearted and humorous edge to them. Click ahead for a list of all the movies referenced in this video compilation created by editor Harry Hanrahan.
