Scary Good Ideas for a Horror Movie Themed Halloween Party

Halloween is Coming!

People like scary movies because they introduce a kind of dark thrill that other genres cannot offer. Mystery and action films often come close to creating that feeling, but great horror films offer a sense of creepiness, gore and a macabre nature to spark that fun feeling of anticipation that gets you riled throughout the evening. As Halloween nears, you may want to consider inviting your friends… *ahem* ghouls and ghasts over for an all out “scary movie party” on October 31! Choose the movies, break out the snacks, and pick up some scary-movie themed costumes at Buycostumes.com, a local Halloween store, or for extra creativity points, bust out a DIY project to create your very own epic outfit and scary mask. If you need help brainstorming some movie ideas for your theme, Click Ahead for a mix of classic Halloween musts, newer dark releases and some hidden cult gems!

Night Of The Living Dead – (Blu-ray Review)

Now available on Blu-ray!

“They’re coming to get you Barbara!” For the Halloween season, Twilight Time has released a Blu-ray version of Tom Savini’s Night Of The Living Dead.

There have been several examples of remakes, re-imaginings and re-boots that do not work, because they take a beloved classic film and try to recreate or enhance it with new actors, camera angles, special effects and a few twists and turns, often losing sight of what made the film work in the first place. But every so often there are those few that work and work well. Like taking a beautiful piece of art, and repainting it. The skills are there, but the copy cannot capture the essence of the original masterpiece.

Everybody’s Fine Is Just Fine On Blu-ray – (Review)

On Blu-ray October 16th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment!

The last line of the synopsis says; “…everybody will be fine in time for a Christmas reunion!”, so when I got my Blu-ray screener copy of Everybody’s Fine in the mail the other day, I really wasn’t in the mood to watch a Christmas movie during the month of October.  You see, I only watch Christmas themed movies in December, because, obviously, they put me in the Holiday mood. But I took a chance and rolled the dice, and ya know what? I had nothing to worry about…it’s not a Christmas movie at all! Everybody’s Fine is a dramedy, leaning more towards the drama end of the spectrum. This movie is TOTALLY De Niro’s show…and he’s BRILLIANT as Frank Goode, the widowed patriarch of a loving, dysfunctional family (aren’t they all?)…
