On the Road, a Flashback to Free Spirited Times (Film Review)

A road movie with a lot of sexual energy opens this weekend in South Florida.  The film is called On the Road and its brilliant cast makes it a winner.  Taken from a novel by Jack Kerouac, the film gives a view of 40’s America and the challenges faced by a group of free-spirited friends.

No, a Fight for Rights (Film Review)

Out of Chile comes a film that was nominated for a 2013 Oscar called “NO”.  It’s a true story political drama that pits citizens against a tyrannical government.  The film makes a statement that no matter what the barrier you can fight for your rights and with the right campaign you can take it all the way to the top.

Jane Levy plays Mia in EVIL DEAD

Evil Dead, a Killer Chiller (Film Review)

New faces save Evil Dead from getting inane in this respectable remake of a Sam Raimi film. The horror flick has some very good special effects, CGI and makeup that turn the film into a gory blood bath.  Although the script does follow the original made in 1981, the evil in this film far outweighs anything Raimi did 32 years ago. Horror fans should be eating this one up with a side of plasma.

THE ART OF THE CROODS (Book Review)

The Art of the Croods

The Art of the Croods

You’ve seen the movie, now own the amazing book.  We’re talking about “The Art of The Croods”, an official art book featuring over 400 pieces of concept art, character sketches, storyboards and digital paintings, along with interviews with key animation talent.

The Croods takes us back to the beginning – a previously undiscovered era known as the Croodaceous period – a time when Mother Nature was still experimenting and the animals, flora and fauna we know today had not yet evolved. Trying to find their evolutionary niche are The Croods, a family who must adapt to survive after their cave home is destroyed.

“The Art of The Croods” traces the evolution of the comedy adventure movie and we’ve got our review below, so click ahead to check it out and thanks to our good friends over at TITAN Books for letting us review this in advance!

Despicable Me 2 Blimp

Despicable Me 2 Blimp

No, it wasn’t an attack from North Korea, although the missile-looking blimp flying above Hollywood this week did cause quite the stir from those on the ground. What was actually soaring above Universal Studios, Hollywood Blvd., the Griffith Observatory and downtown Los Angeles was the new Minion Blimp (aka the “Despicablimp”) created by the folks over at Ignition Print Creative Advertising to promote the upcoming animated film Despicable Me 2.

Click ahead to see a video of the blimp in flight and a fun montage of the pre-launch and release of the blimp. In Despicable Me 2, which hits theaters July 3rd, 2013, Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedic-animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions … and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.
